ALBEMARLE REGIONAL LIBRARY

 CONTRACT FOR RESPONSIBLE USE OF INTERNET 

 

All users of the Internet at the Albemarle Regional Library must sign this agreement. Parents/legal guardian/authorized caregivers must co-sign with young adults ages 13 through 17. The signer(s) of this agreement must read the “Internet Acceptable Use Policy”, and agree thereto.  The undersigned agrees to assume all responsibility for any use made of said resources and agrees to hold the Albemarle Regional Library, the Counties of Bertie, Gates, Hertford and Northampton, its officers, agents, and employees harmless for any liability or damages arising from or in connection with said use or from any information derived from said use. The undersigned further acknowledges that the Albemarle Regional Library assumes no liability for any loss or damage to user’s data or for any damage or injury sustained from invasion of privacy while using the library’s computers, programs, or files and agrees to hold the Albemarle Regional Library, the Counties of Bertie, Gates, Hertford and Northampton, its officers, agents and employees harmless in the event of such damages or injury.

 

By signing this contract, I agree to:

1.   …PRESENT my Patron ID card as requested and sign in at the circulation desk.

  1. …be polite and respectful of others.
  2. …not make ANY changes to the computer or printer setup.
  3. …not violate any software license agreement or copyright.
  4. …not create, display, or transmit materials that may be reasonably obscene, threatening, racist, and/or offensive.
  5. …not use the library computers for profit-making activities, chat rooms, or games.
  6. …not use my own software on library computers.

 

I  understand that:

  1. …each user of the Internet must be a registered patron of the Albemarle Regional Library System (except as noted in the Internet Acceptable Use Policy) and abide by the rules of the Library. Children under age 13 must have an adult at the computer with them at all times. Children, ages 13-17 must have signed parental/legal guardian/authorized caregiver permission to use the Internet.
  2. …computer  use will be limited to 30-minute intervals when others are waiting, not to exceed two hours per day.
  3. …the workstations may be monitored by library staff to ensure appropriate usage.
  4. …use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use will result in cancellation of privileges.
